I had a 600gal built by Will at AO and in the tank I had custom overflow built that would hide my Tunzes, Well when I measured my Tunzes the one I measured had the brown clip (Sliding piece with hinge) on it... After I got the tank and started to place the Tunzes in I noticed that some stuck out more then others... After looking closer I found that I have two diff clips, brown and black...

I talked with Roger in the Tunze USA Sponsor Forum and he stated the following :

The brown one is obsolete, I may have some used ones but unlikely 8 of them. I would post in equipment wanted as many people upgraded to the other one and if they didn't throw away the old ones you may be able to find some. I will check what I have.

He only had one of the brown ones, I would like to trade people who have the brown ones, for the newer black ones... They are the same part # and everything, its just the black one sticks out a little more then the brown ones...

If you can help please check out this thread...

dang that sucks!! sorry to hear.

love the hiding of the tunzes. but don't they run a lot of flow through your overflow that way??

They are on the sides of the overflow... The overflow is divided off from the two "Tunze boxes" The boxes are fed with the two holes at the bottom to keep the water level in those area high at all times... Does that make since ??

The black look like the brown with legs, you can actually see the guide the legs are in are actually on the black one. Have you tried taking the legs off off the black one with a dremel or something else that can be fairly precise and just gluing it into the guide (that is already cut). It looks like it would be an easy enough job? Are the dimensions of the base any different? They look like identical pieces. I dont have any on hand so I could be wrong. Making a brown into a black would be hard, making a black into a brown looks pretty painless.

I agree, I wanted to see if I would be able to find some reefers who would be willing to trade, Right now I am getting some good response... I was going to try what you stated above as a last resort...

A trade is definately better if possible. Good luck, I hope you do not have to resort to cutting :) .

I hope you get them all.

I guess a good priciple learned is to be careful in designing a system around a specific model of equipment.

Shawn,

I am doing the same thing in my tank. Instead of using the magnets to mount my 6200's, I just used a piece of 1" flex PVC to wedge it in there. It's turned out to be very easy to install and remove with just one hand. I did put a piece of black 2" pvc around the nozzle as a gasket to reduce noise and to keep the nozzle from intruding to far into the tank (your current problem).

Here's a pic:

Oh, and I've found that TONS of detritus collects in that chamber. You may want to think putting a dedicated pipe in there so that you can frequenty either blow out the detritus or siphon it out.

Good luck with your search,

I rem seeing your thread and how you placed the flex PVC to hold the Tunze in place... Thanks for the tip on the pipe to blow out the detritus, I didn't even think about that...

Im pretty sure my Tunze clip is brown.
I will double check as soon as I get home.
As long as the black ones will fit with the Magnet holders Ill trade.

I just wanted to thank everyone who replied in responce to this thread... I got enough who were willing to trade out, now I don't have to worry about the mounting issue with my custom overflow any more :) Thank again to everyone...
