Who here thinks they have the oldest acro kept under captive care?

Doing a bit of research here so please post if you are proud of your long lived acro.

Pics are encouraged.

frags of a pavona coral, not acro but sps, I reciveved in 93 are still alive and in peoples tanks do to fragging and trading. so thats ruffly 13 years now.

What's your oldest top out at Mark?

BTW congrats ~ Its about time they made you a mod!

**Maybe I should take that back ~ posting that link sure makes me look silly now.

Thanks.

One of the first days of July, 2003. My slimer is from August of that year ... both still doing well, a dozen frags + off each.

But young'uns compared to a few folks. KevinPo, 64Ivy, GaryM all have corals from the '90s - and that list is quite long I bet. I apologize to the very many folks I'd like to learn from but who I've left off.

There could be decade + Acropora varieties out there ...

Only two of `those '90's corals' I have are from my wife, a bubble + an open brain ... and maybe some frags I've gotten. :)

Do frags from old colonies count ;) I have the stuber acro which was the first captive acro :D I also have GM's acropora glauca

atzak ~ MM's right 6 years is something to be proud of.

Gary ~ thanks for posting your pics. Very impressive! After looking over the other thread so far you are on top. You must have been one of the first around to have an acro in your reef.

Menard ~ your up there too! Great job.

Sadly many reefs throughout the planet have been lost since the time you guys aquired those.

Anyone know off hand when acros first became available in the states?

Got this from Tyree ( through a friend) in 1994 I believe. It has been fragged hundreds of times, and even went to go live in a friends tank for a few years while I took a break from the hobby. Still doing quite well, though, and one of my favorite pieces.

Here is my oldest acro. I always say I have had it since 2001 but it is the first acro I got that lived more than two weeks. I may have gotten it in late 2000 but 2001 for sure. It has died and come back from the dead more than I can remember. Been in more tanks than I care to admit as well.

I have mushrooms that are seven years old...lol.

I missed this one a decade ago, but I still have Leng Sy Cap from a thermos swap in about 1998ish. Of course, it has been pruned back and regrown about a dozen times. I cannot touch 1993, but 1990s is pretty good.

Who all did thermos swaps? That is some old school stuff right there...
