Greetings,
I was curious on who has the oldest carpet anenome out there. Initial reading suggest that they are difficult to keep past a year, so i was curious. I've had my green carpet thats about was about 16" at its widest (but since i've upgrade lighting to 250w HQI's, is at about 16") for about 5 years now. I used to feed, but slowly stopped because i was afraid that it'd out grow my 55g back then (its now in a 125).
I once heard that the oldest carpet in captivity used to be a UC Davis and was 20+ years at the time. Anyhow, whos got the oldest carpet?

It depends on what type of carpet you are talking about. S. gigantea are notoriously difficult to keep. S. haddoni (saddle carpets) are one of the easier anemones. I had one for 7 years before I gave it away. My present one, I've had for 3 years. The two S. mertensii that I have seem to be even easier. One I've had for 2.5 years the other for 1.5 years.

one of my giganteas is 11+ years (bought in th early/mid 90s) in my presence, and I have another that I have only had for a few months but I have all the confidence in the world that it will do just as well as my original. I also have a hadoni for over a year that I dont forsee any problems with.

Rod, do you happen to have any recent pics of the giganteas, and the clowns that call them home? I would love to see some nice pics:)!

I have been avoiding posting pics for certain reasons. I will try to get some soon and Ill drop you an email if your interested..
