Oldude's new 400 gal tank build

I saw this tank today and just BLOWN away. The pictures don't do the aquascaping justice at all. There are so many cool crevices and overhangs that I didn't want to LEAVE. The colours are as vivid...more so...than they appear in the pictures.

Not to mention Greg's one hell of a nice guy. I was there picking up an RO/DI unit he no longer uses...free of charge.

I'm through requesting pictures...I'm just going to beg until he opens his door to me again haha.

It was nice to meet you in person Brett. I'm glad you enjoyed the tank and you are more than welcome to come back any time, especially when you have more time. Yeah I do wish I could get the pictures to show the canyons & cave areas but both my camera & my photo skills have too many limitations.
As you suggested today I might have to do a video. I hope the r/o unit works for you and look forward to seeing you again in the near future.

elijaher Maybe you can run a video of your tank someday.
Yes great idea, I was just talking about that earlier today. Thanks.

I have also always enjoyed your photo's :) Took the time tonight to fully re-read your thread, and it's amazing how fast this tank has matured.

Are you still using RBS, or did you switch to H2O salt? I'm asking this because I have used RBS myself for several years now and never experienced any problems.

rholguin - Awsome looking tank love your corals great color.
Thanks very much.
dmorel - Sigh... that's just not right. I was about to ask what you're shooting with to get such awesome photos.
Thanks, ok sure for the most part I can take a top down picture through an acrylic box and get it to turn out ok, however that isn't much of a challenge for most people anyway. What I'm talking about is taking a good high res FTS where I can show the details & subtleties of the aquascape/coralscape, etc.
My camera is not high enough quality for that and my skill level may not be either. This is what I meant.

Thanks again Leonardo. Wow that's a big read, thanks for looking and I agree the tank has matured quickly. I use RBS when I can but have had trouble getting it locally for a while so I've been mixing H2O & Reef Crystals together but plan to start again on RBS ASAP.

I am not thrilled with either of them on their own so I mix them to difuse their inadequicies a bit. I will be going to to RBS ASAP.:fish2:

Good to hear you still prefer RBS. That confirms my choice again, because I was thinking to switch over to H2O.

I just noticed a lack of pictures on this page so here's a shot of a A.tenuis

delphinus Geeeez Greg, that poor thing is tiny. Can't you let it grow out a bit ????

Wow, another great looking colony.
Thanks Tony, now when will that beast of yours be up & running?

Beautiful coral!!
Thanks Moses

Just for interest's sake I've had that A.tenuis for about 3 years or so.
This is a shot of the same coral in the spring of 2007 which had grown quite nicely in size from the original frag I got in a trade(it's been fragged many times over the years)

Hey guys, just taggin along, and all I can say is speechless. This build is amazing.

OlDude: what I don't understand is how you get everything to grow together and not sting each other. Every time I put anything near another coral its an all out war.
