Oldude's new 400 gal tank build

Thanks Doug. They are an interesting fish. Here's another picture of one of the females in my softy ghetto tank waiting for the move.

NEW FLOORING

NEW FLOORING

I went and bought the tile for the floor last night and set a few pieces roughly in place for a better visual of what I wanted. Here is a peek at a very rough idea of what the floor around the tank will look like. I was going to do a coral mosaic in front of the tank but found this pre-fab unit that I settled on instead so way less hassle. I still need to pick up the in floor heating package that will make standing in front of the tank much more comfortable.

front view. The stand will be done in oak so I put a panel from my old tank in front to also help with the visual concept.

That looks really nice. Are you going to orient the compass square to point to North? ;)
It isn't marked so one has to orient themselves with it instead. ;) If you stand to the right and face it that is north, sort of.

You should totally tell your visitors it is a human compass, and that if you stand on it and relax, you'll feel yourself turn north eventually. :D

Got my new sump delivered last night but murphy's law kicked in and I will need to cut back a couple of the supports to get it into place:mad2:

The sump was too big to get through the access area in the stand so we just cut out the middle end support with a saws-all and that fixed the problem. The sump is now in place and now needs to be plumbed. The blue back ground is now installed as well so it's starting to look like a tank. My son in law extrordinair is over doing the thin set and tiling. Pix to follow.

I am hoping we can get some tile down tomorrow and install some plumbing. I need to put this baby to the test.

Oooh neat. We can see the heating wiring in that prep work.

Do you like your new sump? You don't seem all that excited.

 Never really thought about it like that. A sump is a sump although I am excited to be one step closer.;)
