I like this idea to elevate the bucket with an emergency drain to the sump, a simple solution that will give some peace of mind when travelling. Thanks Brett.

Elliott - another solution would be to install a float switch at the top of the bucket that would turn off your skimmer pump

Yes that would would but I think I'd like to keep it simple & fool proof.

Greg, do you have any tips for me on the leopard wrasse? Also are they safe with peps?

Thanks very much. Well as I'm sure you are aware most fish are really hit & miss so just because a particular fish acts a certain way in one reef doesn't guarantee it will have the same behavior in another reef. In fact the same fish may change it's behavior just moving from one tank to another, well at least that's been my experience. Now that said, I have 3 peppermints in my reef, however I usually only see them at night well after the wrasses have buried themselves in the sand for the night. As far as tips....hmmm, I think the best I can do is tell you what I think is working for me. Mine eats pellets, flakes & frozen and I have a large pod population for it to hunt between meals. I also have a lot of caves, nooks & crannies, swim throughs and plenty of actual swimming room so it has decided to stay inside the tank (so far so good). I have heard they can be difficult but I've not had any issues with mine. It is very healthy & easily doubled in size since I got it. They are a very cool fish so if you have the space I'd recommend them.

+1 on the Leopard Wrasse question for me too. I've tried to successfully keep one on several different occasions with varying life durations for different ones but they all wind up dying on me... :confused:

I've done everything by the "book" as far as acclimation procedure and so forth all to no avail. Love to get your input on this one too.

Also, I was curious what you feed your fish, could you give us your regimen?

Hi Dave, I only feed frozen foods(mysis or brine shrimp) a few times a month, maybe.(stinks too much) I also throw in some nori once in awhile as well. I feed formula 1 & 2 pellets mixed in an auto feeder set for fairly small portions 5 times per day. As mentioned earlier I have a large pod population so there is plenty of food all the time. ;m no expert since I've only had this one for about 5 or 6 months but it is fat & healthy. I think one of the keys is having plenty of good hiding areas so any fish that wants to can get some alone time without being hassled. I have around 500 lbs of live rock which I think is another plus for a fish like that and of course I also have a sand bed, wrases like to bury themselves at night or when they feel threatened. This is important for my reef because I have around 70 fish so it can get a bit crowded at times.:fun5:

you have the most amazing corals!! What auto feeder do you use and does your return pump keep running while feeding? Wouldn't the food just go over the overflows if it does?

really enjoy keeping up with your tank!
