Oh wow!!!!! I had a piece like that hairy one a few years ago. It was my favorite coral and the green in it just glowed. Unfortunately I lost it and was so disappointed. I'm glad I have a name for it now (and possibly a source, right Greg?)
Nice Greg. That cut end healed up quickly. Love the coloration of this piece.
No problem Vlad however I lost the piece I got from you and this new one came from another source & I think yours was hairier than this one. I had one from each of you for a while but neither survived to get into this tank. My other friend has had his colony for about 5-6 years. It gets doing really well for him and then he has a problem in his tank, looses most of it and it grows back. I think this is his 3rd time regrowing it. He gave me a decent size frag (as seen above in my prop tank) and it seems to have settled into the display reef quite well now so as long as the present issues I am having don't kill it I'll get you a frag when it grows out a bit.(I may be able to talk my buddy into just getting me another so you don't have to wait so long) I want to get a piece of that branching cyphastrea you have one of these days too.
The branching C. decadia is set aside for you. I'll grow it for you as well
That A. desalwii is a very unique coral in that its coenosteum is ultra smooth and the corallites are really spaced out. Not only that, the polyp extension on them it insane.
Very nice Greg
I was reading a different thread in the SPS forum? Did you get that figured out?
is that a photosynthetic gorgonian to the left of your camera shy goby? would love to know the species and where you purchased it
you have the best looking corals combined with camera skills I've seen in a long time, great job!
That is interesting you had to educate the teachers even more than the students.:worried:Bax That's great that you take the time to show the kids your tank. Both my kids have done a few individual and group projects in school that revolved around my 120 display/240 system when it was up and running. It was always fun to give the tour!
If you can belive it, I have had to take not one, but two science teachers to the mat for telling my kids corals were NOT animials!!! AND!!! Trying to give them zeros on projects!!!
Oh yeah! They know corals are animals now!
Since I'm having some problems and lost a few pieces lately I decided I should get a few back up corals to add to the display in the near future after things settle down. Heres a few recent additions chillin' in the frag tank for now.
