Olive barrel for RO storage ?

Hey folks!

I got a really nice rigid barrel that has a screw on lid and it's air/water tight. I washed it with soap and water. Rinsed really well and washed it with bleach and water. However it still smells like olives lol. Will this hurt anything ? Those brute containers everyone talks about are like $60 here and that just seems silly to me

Interesting thought and following along. I hate paying the prices we do and for a lot of things and there are usually better ways.

I've always gone with "œif you can smell it, there's something there" and it's served me well.

Assuming it's food grade plastic id continue to rinse/clean it until there was no smell before chancing it.

Google it. I saw several possible solutions.

Id try washing & rinsing with vinegar and if that does not neutralize it id think twice due to the oils in olives. Alternatively an auto oil removing wash solution may do the trick too with a good power wash from an auto wash station. Worth a try.
