I have never met this individual. However, I and others are in a position where we continually justify (and argue) the existence of this hobby to lawmakers, PIJAC, AVMA, Fish and Game, State DNR's, Universities, and others,------ who have plenty of influence to decrease or eliminate the Marine and Freshwater livestock trade in the USA. This hurts our case, period.
All poaching is negative, but when it happens by a large Wholesaler and past president of an organization (AMDA) who's job was to promote the industry, this is devastating. These Clippertons were DEAD shortly after the smuggling incident, some died in California after an effort by experts to save them.
Like I mentioned, I have never personally met the smuggler involved. I know nothing of his character, just his business practices.

I never met you nor him, but only from the forums , you're hunting him down 24/7 even if he farts in the wrong direction.
Dont play innocent, it goes much deeper than the H.limbaughi we're discussing here .
if yuri's post is true,then it's simple smuggling..period..
i have read this thread and nowhere he stated about taking permit from france..
we even don't need to bother the technicality of the import papers(H.Passer or H.Limbaughi)...
and why he pleaded guilty if he has not broke the law..please explain..

Your post got nothing to do with what I told to Dr.Race Foster, so I dont understand why you quote me.
He broke the law and admitted it. The export papers, prepared by the Mexican exporter read holocanthus passer, not holocanthus limbaughi. That is what made the import illegal. France has not brought a case to court about this. This is an import issue of using a false name for the fish on import. Steve plead guilty to that.

The business practices of this individual do go deeper than this, you are correct. We could discuss his policies as president which led to the dissolution of AMDA, the one voice needed for the livestock industry, to his denied affiliation with Petco. This is history though and just part of the evolution of the livestock trade, over and done with. I have moved on and my reputation spanning 29 years of serving customers speaks for itself. As long as I am part of the livestock trade I will remain critical of present players who so blatently circumvent the law for personal gain, that damages all of us in the industry, and in fact the entire hobby.
Please, lets not detract from the thread though. This thread is about poaching and smuggling of livestock into the USA, and not a personal attack on the individual in question.

And yes, I will keep a close eye on all individuals and businesses who are part of the livestock trade, that is what a businessperson and industry player does.

I feel that not any one got heart only Steve (loosing money ) and the angels ( the officers not taking care of them )
I think he has lost all the collecting trip money and he will not do it ever agen
I think every rare angel like this must be given to breeders like Karen Britain and Frank ...

If you really care about not ruining the image of the hobby, you wouldn't jump and bring details again and again in public, the best way would have be to let it rest as the damage was done already.
The way I see it, what you really care for is bashing Steve Robinson as much as you can, I've seen it again and again in the forums, way before the Clipperton incident, and this gets back to the AMDA days.
This is more personal, than just Dr.Foster helping the image of the hobby , isn't it.
I'd expect you to be a little more straight forward about it.
Auem, I'm not trying to defend Steve Robinson, he plead guilty,and waiting for court decision , what else you guys want him to do? commit suicide?

I've read your yesterday post and quoted it on my first post of today.
It's nothing to do with win, anybody who's following your posts in the forums knows that the bad blood between you and Steve goes well further back than this Clipperton incident .
However, that was my last post on this subject as well.
I hope so, as you have made your agenda clear, and another post toward your desired end will be more than enough to end this otherwise informative thread.

may be some wafer specimens caught in other islands will come up to the market some day..
I doubt it.
And if only 2 specimens per permit will be legal for a collection trip, so that will make the trip impossible for a collector.
i think permit is for scientific study only..not salable anyway....
