Guys, I have a HUGE question, my anemone has NOT moved since I placed it in the tank but just a couple of minutes ago, it started moving out of it's usual place, and currently it's foot is spreading just so large, could it be splitting? But I doubt my water quality has been bad, it was always good, if it's not splitting what might urge it to move?? :)

what kind of nem? If bubble tip likely. My bubble tips stay in same area except when it needs an area to stretch and split. Water quality doesn't have to be bad to split either, its how they reproduce so they do it in good water too

OH really?! yes it is a BTA :D i'm so so sorry but I had to bring the anemone stuck onto the rock into a basket.. I had too many corals near the anemone, didn't want to lose them at all... So yeah, I can clearly see that it is starting to split really soon :) hoping it IS really splitting LOL

It can take a while to split...I had one start 3 days ago, and its about 3/4 split but still attached in a one inch area...good luck

OHH WOW!! 3 days??!! LOL i've placed mine in the basket, and it seems like the foot is getting broader and broader, does that show signs that it might split? :)

could be?? do you have any pictures to show us? Another possibility is that it's just moving a little and the foot is spreading out to do that. Hopefully the former as it's way cooler :)

OoOOOOoO... tearing apart... Sigh, I think i'm having doubts now... It's night time here in Melbourne but what I noticed is that the foot of the anemone is SOOO huge but it still looks like it is in one piece. Yes BTA it is I am talking about. Could it be that I might have misjudged it? I don't know...hmmm... Or could it be splitting tonight?

my green bta just split and it took 2days .. woke up this morning and it was in 2 pieces. sweeeet!!. during the process it stretched its foot out onto the glass and then balooned for a few hours then began to tear itself in half. while stretching i could see through the middle of it from the bottom. this is the first time i have witnessed a bta spliting it was pretty cool. hopefully my rbta splits soon.

keep us posted im sure its probably going to split soon.

PRAYING hard that it will :D hahahah... the foot is just HUGE!! the anemone has NOT moved for like the past 6 months, and suddenly its foot inflated and it just moved towards my corals and I was like OHH NO NOT THE ACANS NOT THE ACANS, so I removed it into a basket for the time being, hoping that it might split soon :) Thanks guys, but could it be that it might not even split??

nice, pics please. I've been waiting for my nem to split.... Mine gets prettu huge and expands like crazy but still no split...

ohh no the foot I THINK has returned back to its original size... I doubt it could split.. :( sighh... should I place it back into the rockwork?? any ideas?

Give it a few days might just be stressed out from moving around. My BTA splits very rapidly like one day or less. As a matter of fact Excite95 has a clone(well 2 clones now) of mine.

Any pics?

If an anemone is splitting, I would not disturb it or you could prevent it from splitting. So in your case, I would have let it be to begin with. I know you said you have lots of corals nearby but what happens when it actually does split and you have two anemones and then three anemones roaming around your tank? So either way, you're going to have an issue with available space it seems like. Good luck.
