Quick question on corals. So I got some in my tank and they are still on the little pieces of live rock they came on. What is a safe easy way to transfer them to a chunk of live rock in my tank?
After looking at the types of corals you posted on your other thread, ricordias and any types of mushrooms will eventually start splitting and growing on your other rocks. Basically all you need to do is put the smaller pieces of rock on top of the big pieces and eventually they'll all be covered.
Leathers are a little trickier. You can take a razor blade and cut it at the base (where it's attached now) and then you can take a toothpick or those little plastic sandwich swords and stab through the leather and stick it into a hole in your live rock until it attaches. Depends on how big your leather is too. I've heard of people "sewing" them to live rock with fishing line and rubber bands before too. You just want it snug enough to hold it against the rock not too tight so it actually cuts through the coral.
Okay not sure if that makes sense or not. Let me know if you would like me to ellaborate on anything.
There's TONS of different ways for moving and fragging corals it just depends on what type of coral. Some you just break off and superglue onto rocks others require a little more effort to get them to stay put.

ZERO luck with gel??? Here's a tip don't use too much gel and don't be afraid to let it dry. Coral is alot tougher than you think and can withstand being out of water for quite awhile without any problems. Another trick, if you have a tall slender frag, glue it on the plug sideways, that way more surface area of the frag is exposed to the light and it will grow faster.
Besides that, epoxy hardens by a chemical reaction that can cause alot of heat damaging your frags. I've done it a bunch of time without problems but it is possible.
Well, part of the problem was that they slimed up a lot and I had a hard time getting the glue to stick to them. However, the real problem might have been that they were pretty big frags (Thanks Bob if you're still out there!).
