one or two Streams? 6000 or 6001?

Here are a few pics of my tank which is a little unusual in that it is viewable on all four sides, with the plumbing in the middle of the tank. It is 50g, will have a mix of LPS, xenia, clams and some sps's. Sand bottom as well. I had great success with this system but stacked the original rock too tight and had alot of detritus build up and problems after a year and a half. Was not happy with the amount of flow just with the returns. But I digress, just switched out the rock to more open design, looking to add more current. I am pretty sure that the Stream's are what I want, just getting alot of different advice on which ones, how to set them up etc..

A few ?'s

1. Can I get away with one on one end of the tank? Can I set it to slowly power up to full current? Which model will do this? I would want to be able to adjust the flow rate.

2. Do I need a controller to do this? I assume the single controller would do this?

3. I don't think I will be upgrading to a larger tank in the future, been there done that.

Thanks, let me know if you need any other information to make some recommendations.

Just found some info on the Nano streams due out soon. They look like a better option. What is the difference between the 6025 & 6045 and 6055?

6025- 660 gph... not controllable ... $61.84
6045- 1189 gph... not controllable ... $96.63
6045- 1453 gph.... controllable ... $202.93

The 6055 nano stream would be the best option on a single controller. The tank is really too small for the 6000 or 6100 given the inhabitants.

Decided to do two 6045's instead of wait for the 55's. Still undecided on which controller, 7095 multi or 7091 single with Y cable to run both. May even do two singles.

I think two 6045's on either end of the tank should be plenty for my design, don't you think Roger?

That is the problem, the 6045 is not usable on any controller, they can be turned on and off with a simple timer once evry 15 minutes maximum. Only the 6055 is controller compatible, the controllable pumps have special electronics hence the higher price.

We'll crap, that is not what I was told today from the shop I ordered them from. Thanks for the heads up. Just when I think I have my needs figured out, something changes.

What are your thoughts on two 6045's,one on each end, one running for say 20-30 minutes, then shut off and the other for 20-30 minutes etc.?

Or

one 6055 on one end with multi controller, set to some sort of pulse? $650 is not in the budget now for this need.

The 6045 can be run on timers at an interval as short as 15minutes. It should be fine.
