One sps has me confused

A while back I got an unknown sps. It was yellowish/orange with green polyps. Well is started to bleach out for what ever reason and has stuck it out. Well the past week while still appearing to be bleach I noticed new growth with polyps. At the top a little stalk maybe about 1/8" - 1/4", on the right of it where you can see a little bud starting to grow. How is this possible? Bleached and starting to grow? It is placed under an LED cluster about 12" with med-high flow.

I guess what I'm asking is, if it's still bleached, how is it growing?

I had an acropora that bleached out snd it looked just like the one you have on the picture. My made back after a few weeks later so don't give up on it.

Oh I'm not giving up on it at all. I'm just confused on it being bleached and growing.

The elements that build structure are still present, perhaps dietary needs are being met by a different types of zooxanthellae or DOC present in the system or a little of both.
