Online Ordered Duncan just arrived.... PLEASE HELP!

Hey guys, I have never ordered anything online before, until now.

I bought a duncan that was overnighted and it just arrived. The heat pack was cold, and the temperature of the water read 55 degrees. This seems very low to me, but hopefully it will pull through. The frag is being drip acclimated now.

I have emailed the seller as well, in order to give him an update of the situation.

Is this normal? Do you guys think it will make it? Thanks for your feedback.

He is shrunk up, but you really need to warm that water up by acclimating faster, too difficult to tell now.

Seriously chilly- most tropical corals cant handle mid 60s, much less mid 50s. Just keep an eye on it, acclimate carefully.

Did the shipper use heatpacks??

Thats cold, but it isn't coming off the skeleton, so give it time. Mine took about a week to open after I got it, but has been happy since.

I would acclimate slowly to get close to your tank temp then place it in your tank and feed it. I have several of these from ORA and got a real assue one from ausrtralia last week and they all seem to be hardy and like to be fed.

They're like most LPS - bullet proof.
I would just float the bag in tank till equal temps then lob it in.
Never acclimated any of my lps. No real need tbh, unless the sg is horribly different.
The coral suffers more from being in the bag, in nasty water and full of waste, than it would by putting it straight in the tank.
Pretty much goes the same for fish too.
Only things that really need acclimating are inverts (shrimps, snails etc) as they are very sensitive to SG changes.

If it does appear to die - keep it!
I had a duncan polyp that appeared to be dead. Left it in the tank and 6 months later it decided to make an appearance again!
Looks great now.

Friend i know has also put 6 dead cats in his tank. 4 are now showing signs of life again

My thoughts exactly, just put it into your tank IMO

Duncans are very hardy so it should be fine depending on how healthy it was prior to shipment.

BTW- heat packs don't work very well because they rely on a constant flow of fresh air to keep the chemical reaction going. It's typical for them to feel cool upon arrival and then heat back up once the box has been opened

I wouldn't say most LPS are bulletproof but Duncans are the closest thing to it! From the pic above it looks perfectly fine if you ask me!

It did open slightly yesterday, but I haven't seen it today. I will get a pic up for you guys when I get home, thanks for your help!

A good point.
I meant when it comes to acclimating.
Obviously a lot of LPS require a decent level of care once in tank.

Update: Today when I got home the duncan was closed very tightly and it seems to me like the skeleton is getting white blotches on it. The skeleton seems like its losing a lot of its color but the polyp itself seems to be the same. I sent the seller some pics and he still claims that everything is normal.

What do you guys think?

Forgot to mention, everything else in my tank is happy, heres a quick pic I just took:

It will be just fine.They can be picky some times.But it looks fine to me.Give it a couple days and it will open all the way.When i first got mine, it would go days closed till it got used to my tank.

As above.
It could take weeks before it looks perfectly happy, but as long as you can still see the polyp in there, it is alive and ok
