yes youll have 2 females
there have been some instances where females have reverted back to male but in very rare instances and that is also if the smaller female survives the brutality its about to get
 
there was about 2day of brutal fighting, but it died down recently so i dont know whats goin on anymore
 
GSM I tried to order 6 but only had 3 left. I have pics of my pair somewhere Ill have to find it and post it when the new arrivals come in. The male is a very nice Onyx and the female is just a very normal true perc. Ive had them for almost 4 years and when I changed their diet they stopped laying.

I don't know if your LFS are hopeless and you're going to go the online route but the really nice onyx with lots of black on that upper fin and between all their stripes I see come in from the solomon islands so maybe check to see if anyone is getting a shipment with fish from there lately?

I know its hard to find a LFS willing to track down the perfect fish sometimes when its hard just to operate their storefront but maybe it will help your search.

There's also another person who sells onyxs here like Rod's but goes bya different name. maybe someone can chime in that person? He has some very nice looking ones but I forget the name of the place :(
 
hey dan there i a chance that your rods that you had has not made the full sexual transformation yet because it is small.

that would mean the soloman you got would become the dominant female and the rods become the submissive.

im guessing thats what has happened ehh i guess ill truly know when they spawn in a couple years
 
i have been wanting a pair of Rods Oynxs' since around Christmas time. I talked to Rod back in February and he told me if i was still intrested to get in contact with him around mid march when he starts shipping again. So i sent Rod a email last night, and i will see when he says he will start to ship again. I am hoping very soon
 
I just discovered Rod's Onyx, and called today and ordered a pair. He said he has some left, not much that were small and not very colored yet. They were $40 each, and I just said I'd trust him to pick the two best to send me. :) I'm not picky about misbar or not, I just want some cool looking clownfish that like my RBTA. It'sll be fun to watch the color develop and see what I end up with. As long as they don't lose their color like some of them do in RBTA, they'll be cool.

If someone knows the post with the discussion of bubbles and color fading in the onyx, could you point me to it. I'll post photos when I get my babies Tuesday morning. : )
 
Thanks! I don't have 10 wpg, but I have about 6 wpg, and I'm getting some Rod's food on Thursday, so hopefully these babies develop nice color. It's like opening a Christmas present really slow. :)
