Yeap, sure enough to my surprise, it ate my shrimp. I thought "well, maybe it just ate a molting" but nah, I cant find my shrimp anywhere. Maybe my shrimp got lazy? All I know is it got caught slippin'! :eek1:

sorry to rain on your parade, and especially you wvcleaner, that brain didn't in fact eat your shrimp. It ate a molt. That is a peppermint shrimp molt, looks almost exactly like the original, just transparent.

many times shrimp hide for a day or two after a molt untill the new shell strengthens

very cool pic, what camera are you using?

I know, right? I agree it looks like a cleaner molt, however, my cleaner was out & about the whole time. I still have seen my peppermint....

Im just using a 7mp Nikon point & shoot. But it has the ED lens ;)

mine got my coral shrimp molt last week. My girlfriend got me up freaking out and I went and looked and sure enough, it looked just like him, but after a few minutes I found the shrimp in a cave.

I had a candy cane coral that ate a hermit crab that had been pulled out of his shell by another hermit. Candy cane ate all that it could then spit the rest of it out, the entire time the pincers of the hermit were sticking out of its mouth.

I had an open brain eat a camel shrimp. Posted a pic, someone claimed they thought it was the molt...others pointed out how it did not look transparent.

The camel shrimp population in the tanks was -1 from that point forward. Cannot say if the shrimp died and was then eaten or if the coral took a live shrimp, but it ate the shrimp.

John, it's not likely that a brain can eat a healthy shrimp though... maybe one that was on his way out and floating around.
