Open brain, feeding.

In Memoriam
I have an open brain, and it looks great its colors are bright and in good shape, but it looks a little bit deflated or skinny. I don't have a pic yet, but any idea what to do?

How long have you had it? Has it always done this or is it something new?

What are you water params?

Did you add anything new recently?

How often and what do you feed it? I feed mine mysis or chopped up raw shrimp.

What kind of lighting is it under? Its 'said' that red open brains like less light. So maybe try less light. Or maybe its not getting enough light?

I've had it for about 1/2 a month. My water is in great condition. I feed mysis, cyclopeze, and its getting good lighting, but not too much is at the bottom in the sand.

I guess it depend on what kind of brain you've got. I have two, both green. One has never extended any feeding tentacles and stays deflated if I put him under direct light. Just a little shade and boom......inflates to triple size. The other brain I have extends feeding tentacles regularly, is shaped a little differently, and seems to like the light. I feed him once every other week a nice chunk of fish or shrimp.

What fish do you have in there? I have a dwarf lemon angle that I discovered is a picker. Caught it picking at my open brains. So, I got a plastic fish breader at the lfs and put it over it. It is now doing great. Gets very large..... Yes, we have a fish only tank in our very near future and that lemon is comming OUT!
Good luck....

I just replaced the actinic bulbs on my system. Now my brain is not extending looks shrunk up. Too much light?

I was having problems with my brain because my clownfish was driving my leather coral crazy. The leather wasnt very happy and was releasing a toxen (at least this is what I think) i changed nothing and when my leather got better my brain did to
