open brain swelling

hey folks,
pic 1 is my open brain, it has been in dt for maybe a week and was still has been slowly opening to full over the past few days.. this morning before work I see this(pic 2). is it normal for them to swell so much? or is this a daytime nighttime thing it does that I am un aware of

ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate un detectable
phosphates just barely detectable
ph 8.3
dkh 9.5-10

well now I have a new question, I had to move the brain slightly it was in a high traffic area where a lot of my hermits hang out and they were constantly climbing all over, I noticed a few of these dark almost black spots( on the right, closer shot of dark area in second pic) and it has been producing mucus a lot over the past day and a half, any ideas? went from looking great to not so good

ps did a quick iodine dip and a few mini white bristle stars came off of it
