opinions and advice for return pump....

hello everyone i recently got a 155g tank and thinking about having a 55 to 75g sump. my trouble is should i be looking at a pump with a GPH for the tank by its self or tank and sump combined? also which pump would you suggest? i'm on a budget but can always spend more . just looking for more bang for my buck situation.

Typically 5-10x display tank volume is the generic recommendation..
That would be after head loss and must account for any reactors,etc.. you may want to run off it..

As for a recommendation..
What is the height difference from where its being pumped from and where its outputting to? (highest level) "head height"
Pumps have a chart showing flow at specific heads..
Then do you want internal or external?
Are you concerned with heat input from the pump?
Budget?

It may depend on what your drain system is, if it is an open channel drain (Durso style)and you try to push 1500gph through it you will be unhappy. Do you know what the drain system is?
