Opinions needed! Reef breeders photon OR Coral compulsion LEDs

Hello there everyone, let me start of by saying I have a 40B tank, mostly dominated by designer zoas and palys.

I recently got a hold of a reef breeders photon 48 at a good price so I have been using that, however I also was able to pick up a coral compulsion 120w full spectrum fixture, its a lot smaller but the guy I got them from had 2 on top of a 125 gal, now I know that the 48 is overkill, but I run it real low. Should I keep the reef breeders or o with the coral compulsion?

Thank you!

They are very similar designs. I bet both are from china too. Can't go wrong with either one. I love my 48" photon from Reefbreeders. My SPS are growing.

CC has 2 fixtures, auto dim and manual dim, which one u after?
48 is auto dim.....

48 has better light spread against 1 CC fixture, especially of 2 sides of the tank...
if it is overkill, u can dail it down, hang it higher, screen block, take off the optics or even take out some bulbs...

48 is able to change out the led of your choice w/o void ur warranty, no idea on CC...

they are both made in china....
are they from the same manufacturer? no idea...

And what exactly makes you "bet" that they are both from China?

Go hang out on alibaba, I bet you can find the vast majority of the LED fixtures being sold in the Aquatic (and automotive, and industrial, etc.) industry there for pennies on the dollar. They are all manufactured there, sold in bulk for nothing, and relabeled when they get here.

And what exactly makes you "bet" that they are both from China?

reefbreeders photon fixtures are the same as the fixtures sold by evergrow, a chinese company.
coral compulsion fixtures same as aliexpress fixtures, another chinese company per bhazzard.

you can actually get both cheaper with group buys.

People, read the original post. He has both already.

Seems like it is a matter of what you like on your tank. Are the features comparable, as far as dimmable/programmable. I know the photon has a nice set of features, but do not know about the cc light. What model is it?

Thank you Brian! The CC one is 120W, not at home right now to find the model number, but its dimmable, full spectrum, same with the reef breeders, but that one has a built in timer

I have been happy with my full spectrum CC fixture, but you will probably have coverage issues on a 40B. I feel like there is too much spotlighting even in my 60 cube and am building a canopy to get it up higher to see if that helps. My fixture is 2-way dimmable (whites and blues) and has a 2-way built in timer.

To answer your question, I run two CC full spectrums over my pico and I think the spectrum is off aesthetically. Too much red/green. I'm planning to do some resoldering and awap some chips.
