Opinions on the rarest/most desired?

Every one keeps talking about these huge sizes and everything i bring home is tiny...talking 1/4 to 1/2 an inch maybe. Are these just very young or am I not looking for the right things?

most zoos are 1/4''-1/2'' but most protopays (now palthoa) are 1/2''-3/4'' and most palythoas (button polyps, grandis, nuc greens, p.deaths, ect) are over 1'' just depends on the coral, I like the larger polyps b/c they stand out more

That's what we are doing in our club. Hopefully every clubs starts doing this :) ..

I've tried to put together multiple plans for the club to do a small investment in frags/colonies.... grow them out... then have a frag fest. I was totally shot down again and again.

I don't think it was presented in this exact way as a "pay it forward" type of plan.... but I'd gladly present this to everyone.

In order for someone to receive a "payment"... do they need to "pay" first? I'm just trying to understand how eligibility works.

It's actually based on good good will and mutual trust that the person you give it to know how to care for and has an appropriate system set up for it.

I actually have some blue halo's from the program and set to donate back one set of the required two grow out frags.

Yah, what Raddogz/Eileen said :)

Our DBTC frags are items that members donate.

It's all about encouraging propagation, good coral husbandry, and sharing, and not so much about "getting lots of stuff".

We don't have much in the way of rigid rules for the program. We've left it to the individual donater to specify the eligibility requirements.

Personally, I give preference to someone who already has put something into the propagation program or has demonstrated a sharing spirit in the community. I look for someone that has demonstrated some success in growing that particular type of coral. I tend to be wary if someone shows up and just posts "gimme gimme gimme" on all the threads. I want to know that the person's priorities are more community and coral oriented than self serving.

In today's age of chop shopping hobbyists and frenzied frag trading/selling, it's been really fun to participate in an activity that focuses on the coral for its own sake, instead of how much money or trades someone can get from the next frag.
