I'm curious about optimal placement and number of these pumps on my tank. Its a 240 gallon bowfront, 6' long, 36" tall and I think about 2 feet in width at the ends. There is a single center overflow chamber, with the returns coming out and pointing near the surface and outward at about a 45 degree angle to the back wall of the tank (they're loc-line, so this can change a bit if desired).
The tank has rockwork up to about 2/3 of the height of the tank, with mostly SPS in the middle and upper ledges, and some softies and LPS lower in the tank. There is a deep sand bed also.
I currently have one Vortech, turned most of the way up, on either end of the tank. Is there a better way to position them, and ideally is two pumps the right number, or should I plan on more?
