orange cap question

Ok, I just got my first SPS in an older orange monti cap, from a tank rip-down and a number of frags in the process as well.

So, the original cap has been doing fine except I can tell it had one area that was growing hair algea 1/4" for a while...Should I clip the area off? The color of the whole colony has been getting better each day(darker orange) and the tips of most of the caps are all white. I can see small ployps on some of the caps.

Sounds like the new corals are perking up in your tank. If you can keep the area clean of algae (gently brush it off) the cap will grow over the area pretty fast. If the algae has taken over that part then you might want to snip it off. The white tips = new growth. :D
