Orange-faced black ocellaris--face changing color?

I'm just curious: I have a pair of young black misbar ocellaris (from two different breeders). I'd always heard that orange-faced black ocellaris kept that coloration, but lately it looks like the male's face is beginning to change color. He's got a sort of black stripe spreading from the top of his head down to his top lip. The female's face has remained orange.

Has anyone else had this happen? I kind of like the look of the orange faces and was hoping they'd stay that way.

B&W Ocellaris are orange faced when young. They blacken as they get older. I have some that are orange at 9 months and some that are completely black by 4 months.

Yes its part of the maturing process. My kids call them Imo Nemo's. I didnt keep my pair because they got to aggressive.
