Orange Linckia star regeneration

My Orange Linckia star lost part of one of it's legs about a month ago. So I've been watching the 2 move around the tank, wondering how long the leg would last. Looks like a long time.

Yup, a friend was just showing me this thing that he thought was some kind of blue worm. He was afraid it would eat his corals. When he pulled it out to show me, it looked exactally like that (but blue)! He said it didn't have those extra legs a week ago. Cool stuff happening in our tanks!

Hey, Sullyman - I think with a little extra room in the tank your star should regenerate quite nicely. The blue zoanthids are just cramping the poor star...

I can certainly help you with making some room by hosting some of those zoas...:)

Is it me, or does the picture of the star look like it has 6 legs?

It's got 4 legs starting to grow out from a mouth it must have grown. It's great to be able to see these things going on.

I think he meant the larger one - it does look like it has 6 legs - what are you feeding that thing

I picked up some 7-legged red linckia stars from Brett at splash of life. These severed legs are supposed to result in some of the hardiest starfish around.

I think you have a couple of my star fish legs. The one I got from Brett only had 4 legs.
