Sorry I couldn't capture a decent pic...

Is it normal for the underside of this coral and lower growth tips to be pale white in color?

I've had a frag in QT for 6 weeks and held off on putting it in the display as I've delt with monti nudis before and am now super cautious when everything doesn't look perfect. I haven't noticed a nudi and the frag has probably grown a good 50%. It doesn't appear to have any tissue loss at the base but the areas less exposed to light are practically white.

Most acropora and montipora will have white growth tips. Without a pic of the monti it's hard to be 100% sure; but most likely your just seeing new growth tips

The growth tips makes sense but its the pale white underside of the coral that is throwing me off. Its a small frag but I'll try again to take a decent pic tonight
