Orange plate on bare bottom??

I am looking to get my first Orange plate. I have been reading that they need a soft substrate. Would one of them work on bare bottom glass? I don't want to get one if they need sand to survive. Also, any other care info that you may think is important on these guys would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I have them on BB. I have also seen them on frag racks and rock ledges for months no problem.

Have mine on a frag rack for about 6 months so far. Been meaning to move him to a display tank but Im taking a long time to set it up... I think as long as its not on crushed coral or anything too coarse and sharp it should be fine.

People always assume plates live on sandy bottoms but most are found on rubble or rockwork. So a barebottom will be ideal.
