orange shoulder staying in on place

If he's doing a little better then maybe the meds are working. I would do another dose but get some metro or kanamycin in case the general cure doesn't work.

General cure says it is metronidazole and praxiquantel. But it is also labeled as parasitic medicine not bacterial. I don't see any sores on him but this med seems to be for hole in the head, flukes, and ich. Am I treating for the right thing? I Looked for the kanaplex online but only saw it for overseas (I'm in us) and looked expensive but I wonder if the USA market has it labeled different. Does this seem more bacterial or parasitic? If a YouTube vid will help I'll take one.

Also is no light but ambient OK for qt or should I build a quick led and light it?

Ambient light is fine. Metro can be used for parasitic and bacterial. Prazi treats parasitic but it is relatively easy on fish, however, it will suppress appetite. Kanamycin is sold as kanaplex from Seachem. Marine Depot and BRS sell it online.

I picked up some garlic gaurd but still not eating I don't think. He is moving around a lot more then he was a day or 2 ago or actually even more then in the display the week before I pulled him. I added another small power head and a 2nd air stone. How many days do I treat for 10? I thought I saw some stringy white stuff hanging from between the 2 small bottom front fins but it's gone now.

If it was long stringy poop then he sounds like he has internal parasites which is being treated with the metro/Prazi. Length of treatment should be on the package. Do you have any Selcon on hand? When I've had fish that won't eat I will add a drop or two to their water.

I do have selcon. The package said to dose it 3 times. A dose every 2 days then at end a 25% WC. I had to buy an extra box to have enough to do my third dose so I could actually dose 2 more times unless that would be over doing it.

He does seem more active now for sure but he kinda just hovers around the bare bottom tank with like his tail up and his chin touching the glass. Maybe at like a 30° angle and I haven't seen him in the water colum which it is a 10" fish in a 40b.... I had tried adding garlic guard to the mysis last night but didn't seem to help. I'll add some selcon to the tank. So I have the chunks of live rock I set up in the qt in there still. Is the bacteria affected by the medicine and I should pull that rock and bleach it and put new rock into the qt out of the sump or do I need to dose something like mb7? I have added a small amount of prime every morning. I ordered an ammonia test kit but still hasn't arrived

The metro could affect the bacteria so keep an eye on it. Water changes, prime, bio spira and the LR will all help. No need to pull the rock out of the tank but you could add more if you need to.
You could dose Selcon again if you want. It's not harmful but may cause some algae.
This website has good info on bacterial infections. See if you can diagnose based on this. http://wetwebmedia.com/ca/volume_6/volume_6_2/mycobactera.htm

Still don't seem to be eating. I changed 10g yesterday (25%) like the meds said. Do I start another round or just wait?

Did you dose the 2 rounds then the water change as per directions?
Yes it was 4 packets each time (1 per 10g) so I had to buy another package (10 packs per package) to have enough for the 3rd dose. Then Sunday morning I did the 25% WC (10g). So I have 8 more packets which enough to dose 2 more times but if this isn't helping I'd rather figure out what else I need to do. I haven't seen him eat but he is still plenty fat

I dosed the metro I had bought at lunch into the water column. I had bought it and the "focus" to bind it to the food but I guess is useless if he don't eat. I was under the impression kanaplex had to be eaten to be effective also. I need to look into seeing if I can dose it just into the water column also

So I just got home and now notice the bottom of his chin is red. Not sure from hovering with it on the glass bottom for so long now or an infection.

You can dose kanaplex in the water, same with metro. Can you post a pic of the red spot?
Hard to get a pic since is in back corner just swimming into the corner. Tried to budge him away with a net but he didn't want to move. I'll pull him out and get pic after I get a shower

He's been in qt for about 2.5 weeks now and still seems about the same. Doesn't seem like he wants to eat and just kinda hovers around on the bottom. I have kanaplex showing up today and going to so a round of that and see what happens. I'm going to set him up a 150 this weekend and hopefully he is just too cramped in the 40b to be able to swim. I have been putting selcon and some mb7 in the water every other day and changing about 5g ever other day.

Did you dose metro in the water?
I did the original round of the metro and prazi I was dosing into the water and doing the WC. After that was done I did the big 25% WC and waited about 2 days then started dosing the metro into the water column. I had bought that metro originally and planned to add to the food with the focus but he wouldn't eat so I dosed it for about a week following the directions on the packaging. At the end of that I did the 25% WC again. It's been about 4 days since last dosed the metro. my kanaplex arrived today so I did another 25% WC and plan to dose it every other day until Sunday and hope for the best I guess. He won't eat but he was so ridiculously fat before I'm hoping he is living off stored fat...

This sounds like exactly what my queen angel is going through now. I'm stumped. I hope it works out for you
I'll keep the updates coming every so often until he is either healthy and back into the display or I have to bury him in the yard

You by chance have a rabbitfish with it?
