Orange Shoulder tang

I have a orange shoulder tang that I have had for a few weeks but today I notice that he had a dark like blotch on his side wondering if anyone had ever seen this. Any input would be great. Thanks

yes i have, that is from stress. Feed him vitamins and garlic with food and try to keep lights off some to calm him down. They normally get dark blackish blue spots on them when they are stressed.

Could he also get this if another tang was attacking him? cause the spot is blotchy with white scraps

What other tangs are in the tank? What size tank?

He might be showing that coloration due to being stressed from such a small tank. How big is the orange shoulder? That's definitely not going to work out for long...the orange shoulder is going to get huge. And do you notice the kole tang beating on him? What are your plans with the orange shoulder say 6 months down the road? My lfs got one in last week that was at least a foot long and had to be a few INCHES thick. This was the biggest orange shoulder I've ever seen. He was gorgeous! Unfortunately, yours won't make it to that point if you keep it in there too long. Are you upgrading soon?

No upgrade will just have to see about a new arrangement for him.

Sounds like a stress indicator.

A) Tankmates bashing it
B) Caused from incorrect tank size - Pacing etc may occur

i concur with all the above, they are very pretty fish but require a 125 gallon at bare minimum tank.
