ORA's Pricey Pinto??

That page has been either moved or even better REMOVED...I suspect they were just fishing for fools........just my opinion.

The thing is that you should NEVER buy a SH based on color, as we all know that they'll be any color they please. As a matter of fact, back awhile somebody bought some "pintos" from OR (not ORA) and when they got them, they were brown. When they called OR and complained, they were told that they were paying for "the pinto gene", not the color.

However, I have a feeling that there may have been some issue with ORA calling the SH "pinto" as IIRC, OR has "trademarked" "pinto" for their own "pinto-pattern" SH.

Greg...I agree with you. At least that person got OR to talk to them. That's more than they would do for me when I tried to get them to ship me the SH I had already paid for...BTW...they never did! Too bad we all can't trademark something like the word "Pinto" hugh????? Something that God and Nature gave us and we feel like we own the name.......ttttt...what a shame. Take care.......

It is gone from their Divers Den, but if you're like me, I get daily updates from DD. When I click on yesterdays update, it takes me directly to it and it is still for sale.

Here's a pic if have not seen it:

I have also had "Pintos" and they turned a solid color in my tank....I don't agree with anyone charging more for "color" or "coloring".

But isn't OR and ORA two different places? ORA supplies stores? Or did I miss something? Sorry, just trying to keep up on things so I don't order from the wrong place. Thanks!!

Well if you order from Peka or from Seahorse Source, then you won't have to worry. They have a much better reputation for seahorses than either ORA or OR.

Yes, two completely different places, but Ocean Rider (OR) has "trademarked" some common words like "pinto" and "mustang" for their own SH and in the past have even had warnings that those words are "theirs".

Greg...I got it figured out. I also raise (4 legged, no fins) Registered American Paint Horses...I know...I know...I'm crazy but anyway I think we need to trademark the words "Colored Like and American Paint Horse".....CLAPH for short! What do you think?? Where's that lady from up in the Mountains in Noerthern Ill.??? I need some Peka thinking on this new name!!!!!LOL:thumbsup:

We can call them pintos all we want, as long as we don't MARKET them as such, which is what I was getting at with the ORA SH...

I'm not as witty or creative as you Mike.... :lmao: Although, after reading your post, I did look out the window to see if mountains had appeared....

:sad2: ... they hadn't......

If its hypopigmentation then the white will stay. I had what I thought was a baby with hypopigmentation that I could not keep alive sadly.. So is it hypopigmentation?
