Orbit Marine LED foot RBTA

I was told by my LFS that this 24" Orbit Marine LED light set would put out plenty of light to support a RBTA.

This also coming from the same person who tore his foot and discounted him by half. That's another story.

So, this light set is on a 36g bow front and I have only seen this anemone get smaller and smaller (after its foot healed of course) since I have had him. Needless to say, I didn't know what a starving anemone looked like but now I do.

He was inflating after each expelling of waste so I assumed all was well. But gradually he has gotten so little and his tentacles will not grab food either. I recently tried putting food near the mouth but he won't take it.

At what point should I pull the trigger and remove the anemone? Will this lightning be enough to support a future anemone? Thanks for any input you can give.

That light is enough for a bta but not any other anemone. Ive grown two huge btas with the marine orbit led light but wouldnt dare try a different species with that

It's probably not enough light for the bta, unless the nem is at the top of the tank directly under the light.
I had the smallest orbit led light and sold it for a better light as I didn't feel it was adequate.

okay well maybe i should repeat myself and then elaborate since you didnt seem to understand what i was saying. i had grown a rose bubble from the size of a half dollar to a soccer ball size over a two year span completely under this light fixture while the bta was mid to low in the tank. i have also had a green bubble for about 8 months who was severely bleached when i bought it and is now twice as big and bright green. all under this light fixture so sure go ahead and tell the guy that this light is not enough for a bta. if you would have said this light isnt enough for a different type of an anemone that i would agree with you.

My BTAs did not do well under that light. I was shooting through a glass canopy though. I got the new Orbit Marine Pro and that's putting out plenty of light. Funny thing is that one bta moved up closer to the light and the other prefers a darker corner spot. Go figure

Carrots--mine was shooting through an acrylic canopy. Just removed mine and moved him to the top. Will update on the progress to see if he improves

I believe you. I personally never attempted to grow a bta with mine when I had it.

I wanted to make sure I could sustain any coral/nem in the future so I bought something that would do so.
It also depends on the tank size and nem placement.

I had my current tank (26g bowfront) all set up to run the orbit LED, but my plans changed as I finished the build and decided to get an evergrow it2040 (16").
I actually just bought the 24" model so the top corners are lit. It's overkill, but this way I don't have to worry about light upgrades in the future.

What size tank did you grow that massive bta?

Because I have been out of the hobby for so long, MHs were the thing to have awhile back. I guess radions are the new MHs these days.

If I don't want to break the bank and shell out much more for lights, what would you all suggest that would be an UG

I have two 36" orbits on a 40g breeder with a rbta at the bottom. It's doing great. Not sure how it would do if I removed one. Tank I think is 16" deep. I do run the fixtures at 100% on one of the stock preprogrammed settings. My Rbta eats too much since his maroon clown friend feeds him every day!!!

Mars Aqua Ebay LEDs. May be cheap and non dimmable but a tank that small you'll be fine with one.
