It appears that something fatal has happened to the O-R-C-A.com website. Whenever I try to oen it I get a call to search for a program to run o-r-c-a_com....it appears that somebody has put a syntax error into the site script, or something like that, but in computerese!!!!!

yep happening to us all I think Mitch

Nope, just you two.

Just kidding. I can't open the website either.

Believe it or not a hacker from somewhere in Germany got in and did a whole bunch of damage...

The web guys are trying to recover what they can... It looks pretty bad right now but I have confidence that our web team will get it resolved in due course.

Hang in there.

Our host provider is performing some additional server maintenance and server-level security enhancements. We might have intermittent outages for the next couple of days while they work through these updates.

do we have any idea how long it will be before we move to the new host? also...do you think we should drag frag event pictures over here since the event is this weekend? I'd hate to have put up pictures and people not be able to see them.

I see no need to move frag event photos to here. The ORCA site has been working again since about 12:30pm and is running very fast now as well.

If you are having problems seeing the page, please clear your web browser cache and then renter the ORCA web url into youraddress bar.

So from what I understand....and please correct me if I'm wrong....but these updates are why the site is all of the sudden smoking fast (when it is up). It may be rocky the next week or so as they iron out the bugs, but we might not need to migrate to a new host after all.

Over the next few days, the Web Admin crew will be monitoring the site to see how it improves while they get things ready to go with a new host if need be.

Hopefully all this mess will be taken care of in another week or two and more focus can be put into improving the look and content of the site.

The upgrades do seem to behind both the increased speeds and the couple of the outages that we have suffered.

We are in the process of migrating to a different site but with the increased performance of the current host we have the opportunity to do it a little more slowly and deliberately.
