There are more ways then just an IP to trace people on these forums. There is also your mac address, and the windows ID#. All can be changed, but the windows ID# is the best way to control such morons. In order to bypass that, they would need to f/disk and reload windows. Windows creates a new ID# every time you install it, but that is quite a hassle just to be a jerk. The mac address is as simple as changing your ethernet card, and the IP litterally takes seconds to change. I used to be a moderator on MSN gaming zone, and we used the windows ID# in serious cases.

I am not a club member, but i have kept up with this forum since 2004 when i moved to Florida. ORCA is a great club, and has come a long way just since i started coming to this forum. There are a ton of good people in the club who really seem to care about the hobby, and put lots of effort into making the club grow. Don't pay that idiot any mind and just keep on keeping on. I'm sure the RC staff has the same tools available to them as i used to have at MSN, and will make sure that he stays off the boards. They do a pretty good job moderating and keeping this forum enjoyable to come to.

Everyone needs and I mean NEEDS to understand that ORCA does NOT control this forum. REEF CENTRAL controls this forum. 98.78% of the time you see an inappropriate post this forum it isn't even by an actual ORCA member.

You're correct, RC controls this forum, and the same rules apply here, as in any other forum on this board. Whether or not your 98.78% figure is accurate or not, I don't know. What I do know is that there is not enough staff here for us to read each of the 9,000+ new posts this board sees on a daily basis.

Hi All,

I’ve been sitting idly by watching this thread unravel. I was attacked by this guy personally a few days ago out of the blue... Caught me totally by surprise, since I've never been flamed before.

Anyway, I just had to jump in. I really do love this club. I am always touched when I hear folks talk about this club's members and all the good things they do. This 2007 Board has really tried to make things fun this year ! The SRC will be awesome and I'm sure folks are pretty much done hearing about it and ready to get down to it !

I know that these forum boards serve as a means to communicate, vent and basically chat about what ever thoughts pop up. And I've certainly been guilty of opening my mouth and inserting my foot... these things happen. I don't think anyone out here with the exception of our annoying little friend really means any harm... Email, forums and other on-line types of communication are so informal. Sometimes it's just too easy to speak the mind without thinking about the consequences of other people’s feelings.

When I hear you guys defending ORCA and its members or board, it really touches my soul. Just when I think I’ve had enough and ready to move on, you guys really make me smile and remember why I took on this job.

not an orca member but want to become one.i just got to take time and do it u guys are really cool and have helped me a lot.without u guys i probably would of left the hobby and gone back to f/w.so keep up the good work there's a lot of rookies out there that need your help.

Thanks Larry, that's a good point. As far as my statistic, well, I made it up but being so precise I thought it would carry more weight. I'm sorry but I don't hang out on this board as much as I once did and I still never posted a great deal. I applaud the moderators here for trying to do the best job they can and I know it must seem overwhelming at times.

My point is really more general and we really haven't had too many of the ridiculous problems that we were plagued with a few years ago. However, I want people to realize that just because something is posted here it in no way endorsed by ORCA. I think your statement will draw more cooperation from the majority of good people, refers, Americans that do post here. Most are truly great.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way. I'm getting fond of that statement..............

unfortunatly you always get people like this on forums...I manage my own forum for my website and am constantly deleting and banning spammers etc trying to build links for their website...although I dont think reef central has to deal with that type of spam....I cant imagine moderating 9000+ posts...

You would never believe how many! We have actually created a user group specific to spammers that we ban. Their titles read "Banned Spammer"
