Order of Introductions

Hi there, I have a 65gallon tank that I have just finished cycling. I have added a cleaner shrimp, 6 hermit crabs and 6 snails so far. Below is the list of fish and corals that I would like to add, is there anything on this list that won't work in my tank or with the other creatures on the list? Also, in what order and timing should I put each of the additions in? I understand that you can sometimes mitigate some territorial aggression by introducing specimens after the more docile ones? It would also be helpful to find out if I have rooms for more or less than what's on this list.

Black clownfish
Orange clownfish
Blue reef chromis
Blue saphire damselfish
canary wrasse
Orchid dottyback
clown goby green
Lyre tail anthia (male)

blood red fireshrimp
cleaner shrimp

Purple long tentacle anemone
Blue Acropora- branching
Yellow sun coral
Coloured tip Haitian reef anemone
Green colony micropolyp

Thanks in advance.

Great, thanks.

Would I need to put the clowns in with anemones at the same time? Also, any species suggestion for the clowns? And how many fish/corals can I/should I put in at the same time? It's a 45 minute drive to my LFS so less trips would be beneficial for me if not for the fish haha.

Clowns don't need an anemone. I have had my clown for a couple years and never an anemone. They move around and would be dangerous with my SPS.

Perhaps skip the chromis and damsel? Just a personal opinion. You could do a hawkfish, blenny, goby or something else. Depends on what areas of the tank you want to fill. Chromis and damsel will be out all the time, others not so much. Otherwise I agree with Scooter about moving those up the list. Remember least aggressive to most. An anemone would also be hard in a newly cycled tank.

I have heard dottybacks may attack and kill shrimp, I got rid of mine after it was harassing my clowns. You may have better luck but beware.

your bioload should be fine so long as you keep up with your water changes as it looks like the biggest fish in the tank will be the anthias. In regards to the shrimp, keep a very close eye on the blood shrimp and the cleaners. Its likely that your cleaners will bond with each other and could become territorial towards the blood shrimp. I've also read plenty of other stories about people whos blood shrimps killed their cleaner shrimps. That being said my neighbor kept a coral banded, skunk cleaner, and blood shrimp in a 125 gallon together. Just food for thought.

Thanks for al the help so far. So anthias and goby first, dottyback last, and all the others in any order? How many should I add at any one time?

Regardless of order ALL new fish must go through TTM and then QT. No exceptions. < That's a PERIOD. Keep Ick out from the start!

I'll probably make a qt out of a rubbermaid container and a HOB filter/airstone does the TTM negate the need for the preemptive medicating I've seen in some qt procedures?

Hi there!!! I would personally add both clowns at the same time if you want 2 clowns. I made the mistake of adding a small black and white clown six months after adding my blood orange clown...and my blood orange clown ended up killing him....8 (
