I was wondering if anyone has ever done the "Package Order" from Tampa Bay Saltwater? I was looking at their site and it is impressive. I was looking into the package for my 90 gallon which includes:

180 pounds of live rock
90 pounds of live sand
90 blue legged hermits
45 Astrea Snails
4 Tiger Tails Cucumbers
2 Serpent or Brittle Stars
2 Pepermint Shrimp

For $1073.....Thought that was a pretty good deal for a complete new setup.

That's a great deal!!! I don't think you need that many hermits or astrea though. I would take some off your hands if you decide to get'em. :)

I would ditch the hermits IMO. Hate mine, always knocking fraggs off and eating my snails :(

There are tons of rock being sold in used deals right now, I bet you could come out cheaper if you made a deal like that but that is a ton more work than just opening boxes!! But I am all about the cheaper way out :)

whew.. 90lbs of live sand is a lot of sand for the surface area of your 90. unless you are going with a dsb. I would be hesitant to get the critters as part of the package especially if it is a new tank. you will inevitable have dieoff in some sorrt of fashion when you place that rock in there as it is shipped wrapped in wet newspapers. this could cause an ammonia spike and kill the other inhabitants in that package. also, the 4 tigertails might be too many for that surface area as well. I would love 1 of those for my 75. if you do get them and decide 4 are too many, LMK.....

They send you the sand and most of the rock packed in water by freight. You set up the tank and let cycle. As soon as it cycle you call them back and they send all the critters in another shipment.

The sand is directly off the reef lease that they use for the rock too. I think it is heavier with a lot of larger pieces of CC mixed with sand. That is why the 90 lbs of sand.

I am just thinking about it. I have a while before I buy anything for the inside of the 90 gallon. I have to get enough money together for the T5 retrofit lighting first........SIGH......
