Today is an exciting day for me today so I figured I would share it with you guys.

I ordered my glass for my new tank.

24W x 24L x 20H

the 3 viewable sides are low lead glass (like Starphire) it should be here by the end of next week!

Yes, I have never built my own tank before. let alone planned and researched as much as I have for this tank.

My original tank was thrown together fast because my friend re aquascaped her tank and removed about 70lbs of rock. I was never really happy with it. So I wanted to make sure I was gonna be happy with this one. ( at least at 1st heh)

IMO the best part of the hobby is the setup and planning, and by researching u r doing yourself a favor in the long run. Get as much info as possible and then some- I put together my last setup in a couple of months with one of my buddies and had to do a whole remodeling after the initial setup-again by not being careful. LOL we all do it !!
Try to get the best equipment for your money- Do it once !
Congratulations and happy reefing.

Equipment I have or plan on getting.

1. Have Aquamedic 250 w Pendant with a 14k hamilton bulb
2. Have Coralife Superskimmer 220 new Genx 2400 NW pump already ordered and on the way.
3. Ordered Blueline 55 HD pump for closed loop, going to try a penductor aimed at the bottom of the tank behind the back of the rocks.
4. Tunze 6000 with controller (pick up friday)
5. Have Phosban reactor going to run chemi pure elite.
6. Have 25W UV steralizer brand is escaping me right now I think it's aquamedic.
7. Going to get a quiet one 3k or 4k for a return pump have a scwd for return which I don't know if I am gonna use or not.
8. Going to use a calfo style overflow 15 inches across the back of the tank to get more surface water to the skimmer.

Trueperk all is well-if I was u and could make some changes i would def. get a better skimmer-go as big as u can. But def go with a better skimmer than the coralife. Any good NW would be great. IME coralife products tend to have tons of problems.

I kinda got the skimmer for free it just needed a new pump. the skimmer is rated for 4 times the size of my tank. I had thought about selling it and getting a different one but decided I would just go ahead and see how this one does.

Coralife really makes so-so equipment.
What's your plans with the setup-softies-sps fish load ?
U r ok with this skimmer but granted it will break and when it does u will remember this thread.
Anyways seems like u r on the right track good luck and happy reefing

I promise I'll let ya say "I told ya so" when it breaks.

I have been doing softies and zoas for the last couple years so am planning on SPS mainly.

Of forgot to add fish load, I have no idea on fishload to be honest. I do want a scribbled foxface.

OK here's the deal:
Your tank should be about 50 gallons-lets say that u do it the right way LOL and filtrate with 30-50 gallons sump/fuge. Roughly a total of 100 gallons. Keep in ming that a fully stocked sps 50 gallon tank with large biolad-needs at least a skimmer that cab take care of a 100 gallon with heavy biolad to be a happy environment for sps.
Here's some of the options IMHO:
1- I'm a DD fan - but lets just stay with the basic NW's wich should work fine for that tank.(etss downdraft need extra pump and extra wattage consumption).
2-EUROREEF 100-better an RS135-great equipment
3-HIGH end-deltec APH 525
3-tunze 9010
There's other options like ASM but I'm not familiar with their products.

Well

Well

Hmm Okay looks like I am gonna have to start with the cheap one and save up for a good skimmer.

Seeing as how I wont have a heavy bioload at 1st I hope it will work till then.

thanks for the insight.
