Ordering Live Rock today...how much?

I'm ordering LR today from Live Aquaria. My tank is a standard 29g, with a DIY corner overflow and a 4" DSB. Will 22lbs be enough? I'm really afraid that 45lbs will be too much, unless someone wants to split some out. I'd like about 30-35 lbs.

If no one is interested in 10-15lbs, do you think that 22lbs would be enough, with another two or three pieces bought at the LFS (even though it's 8 FREAKIN' dollars a pound!)?

How much per lb is it gonna run? That will give people a clue if they want some or not If I were you I would almost go ahead and get the bigger lot and sell off what you end up not using instead of getting it for $8 a lb if you need more, ya know? I am sure someone would take the extra, wish I could but not right now, sorry.

I'm not looking to make any money on it at all. I just want what I need, and to get rid of the rest to someone who wants/needs it.

You can always put the extra in your sump if it is too much for your display tank. I'd get the 45#, especially if it costs you less per pound. 45 lbs will give you about 1.5 lbs per gallon (slightly under that when you factor in your sump volume), which is a good amount.

I don't have a lot of room in the sump...I'd rather have some macroalgae in there. If worse comes to worse, I'll do that, but I'd like for someone else to take the leftovers.

Wish I was set up for the extra but not yet. Just put it in a small rubbermaid with SW and a PH till someone chimes in. I bet you may use more than you think... 45lbs depending on the density can go quick. And naturally how full you like the tank!

Its crazy how expensive the stuff is!!!

That's what I will do until someone decides they want some of it. With that corner overflow/return in my 29, I don't have a lot of real estate.

Haha, Mel, it looks like your scavenging for all the rock you can find. I can probably pick up the rocks up for you. Although it probably wonââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t be until mid-May, so it looks like that wont help.

I can most likely hold it in a bucket with SW and a PH for a couple of weeks. Let me see how much I have left after I do my aquascaping, and I'll let you know. I'm sure it'll be at least 10lbs...I don't want to fill up the tank with rock and not have room for corals....ya know?
