Ordering VHO's for supplementation, have a dumb question...

I'm upgrading my lighting, already have halides set, and am ordering VHO's for supplementation. 2 bulbs. My tank is 6 feet long... do I order 6 foot bulbs? Sounds too easy, but I'm assuming they wouldn't fit, so I should get 5 footers, correct?

the way my 24" and 36" ones are, by the time you put the incaps on you add 1 inch in length tot he bulb. so it makes them 25", and 37". not positive on the 6 footers though

I accidentally bought 48" bulbs for my 48" hood, if I didn't want to hook them up to end caps they fit in very snuggly when I bent them slightly. I order the 46.5" bulbs from HelloLights and they fit like a charm.

My tank is 6 feet long and I ordered (four) 6 foot URI VHOs. Your canopy should fit right over it. I thought the same thing too, and had no problem with the installation of it. Normally, the canopy is slightly a little longer than the tank, to fit over the outside of the tank itself. I know it sounds a little funny, but check out sme of the Reef of the Month photos of their tanks along with the lighting section each winner has to describe the dimensions and specs. of their lighting. I hope this helps.

I have 2 6' VHO's (retrofit, not a fixture) over my 125 (6') supplementing my VHO's. They are mounted on the canopy and there is about 1/2" on both ends to spare.
