Original Leng si cap ?

Well, I filled in the missing link last night (email from Mike Paleta). I traced my frag of cap all the way back to Leng. I believe all the sources are reliable. I am going to speak with Steve and see what he has to say.

That is pretty cool, I am still confuse about how this was determined, I thought Mike Paletta claimed to have had one frag/colony from Leng si, and he gave/sold one frag to Atlantis some time ago, Is this right? you mentioned that you got yours from reef ready, are this the same people from Atlantis?? or I am missing something?

Matt at Reef Ready got his frag from Ming at Atlantis. I got my from from Matt.

Which green cap are you talking about? You can have a frag of my olf one now if you want. The Leng Sy cap will be months before I frag.

I found out one more interesting piece of info. The Penn State coral which I received from JC and JC rceived from Sanjay at Penn State is the original Leng Sy as well. Sanjay received his frags straight from Mike Paletta's Leng Sy monti.
Now that I have read quite a bit about this coral there are a few things I have learned. 1) The debate about if the true Leng Sy cap exist will most likely never be settled since it is debated whether Mike Paletta regrew his Leng Sy coral but most seem to believe he did. It is known for a fact that Mike did have the Leng Sy cap (if he lost it or not is the debate). 2) The coral really isn't that rare. Many people have received frags from Mike, Ming, Sanjay and others that can be traced back to Mike's colony. 3) Rafael's monti looks very very close to Leng's origianl colony. It is not the same coral though. From what I have read Rafael believes (like Steve) that the original Leng Sy cap is gone.
I think I'm done researching this coral now.

That looks cool. It looks a lot like the purple monti cap with yellow polyps that I got from ReefLife. Wicked. nice coral, but I'm waiting mine to grow more, it's a slow grower.
