Had the oportunity to swing by the parks this last week and was unipressed with seaworld tanks state of afairs, u would think with that kind of money and manpower the sky would be the limit but unfortunately its not.
Here's some pics:\nothing to write home about except off course thier weedy collection.

First lesson- take care of your poccis or they will take care of your tank.

Did you check out the aquarium behind the Atlantis ride? I was there Sat and they have a beautiful SPS reef in there. They've actually had a few purple queen anthias in there for a while now. I have a friend who works there as a dolphis trainer but he's always too busy to drag him over there to find somone to ask how they keep them alive!! Also the Bar in the Sharks Rest. is pretty cool. They have the largest Black Caps and Royal Grammas Ive ever seen along with some simple corals. They used to ahve a whole building dedicated to small tanks but when they started preping for Manta the new coaster, a few years ago, they tore it down. its still a great place to go visit!

No Brett did not check out those two perhaps I missed something good?
that's just what I saw and was not impressed. I should make a point to swing by that Atalntis area next time.
No doubt it is great to visit.

Yeah, you surely missed the good tank but it still leaves alot to be desired, I think. You would think SeaWorld could manage something of a TOTM quality.

Yeah you messed it. The best tank is in the giftshop behind atlantis as mentioned above. Maybe someone can correct me but that thing has to be like 1500 gallons...???!!

Manny I felt the same, years ago they had a huge artificial tropical reef that at least had lots of nice fish but now the only one that was worth looking at was the one by Atlantis. I will post a picture as soon as I remember my photobucket password.

I remember that huge tank across from where the outside touch tank was. It was like a few hundred thousand gallons or so...and VERY impressive. I was so upset when I went one year and it was gone. It was in that room with all the small tanks. Shame on you Sea World! But I agree that the tanks in the Atlantis section were outstanding! You even walk on a huge aquarium under your feet filled with rays and sharks.

There is a restaurant there where the bar is the actual aquarium. So instead of having a wood or granite counter top its glass. They also have a big cylinder tank full of cardinals in that restaurant. I forget the name.

Lulio I did not get to see that!
So my bad there's some nice tanks there:rolleyes:

Manny
Is not your bad, you original statement remains true for a marine park three or four nice reef tanks do not cut it.
Don't get me wrong I love the park, Shamu, Kando and the whole Sea World family but for us that have special interest in tropical reefs is a let down.

I recommend you eat at the restaurant where the shark exhibit is.. you can sit next to the tank and watch the big boys swim all around you, it's a little more expensive to eat there, but worth it.

If you go, ASK what else they have! There is more stuff they have then just whats on the Menu. They have a GREAT Orange Chicken but its not on the menu....the menu is kinda pricey but IMO its worth it!
