What about Petsmart? Just kidding. I have only been to SITC because I live in Daytona. I will say this, I met Marcye last weekend and was very impressed with the store, as well as the customer service. I can't wait to for a chance to go back when I have the opportunity to buy some items.

How old is that quote and still so true....saltwater hydroponics is on the rise!!! Expensive facial creams w/ designer lables are now buying cultured kelps and algaes for there natural exfoliating properties. Also there are many projects going on around the country in which they are developing techniques to harvest the energy produced by zooxenthella and other micro symbiants for future space exploration. Corals in space.....too cool. I second that it's a sweet quote!

If you want frags and such this is the place to go.
www.aqua-holics.com
You will not regret this choice and its close to disney instead of driving all the way out to ocean blue which is far to expensive imo.

I've never heard of that place. I've personally never seen cheap coral and looking at their website, their prices are no cheaper however I do not see SPS so I can't comment on that.

Bottom line is you will pay for larger colonies but you could always break it up and come ahead. I'd look at all 3 places.

They do not update there website much, they turn there stock around really quick, and the prices are not accurate either, i posted the website so he could get the address. I was in there one day and they had 7 frogspawns and 5 sold within 10 mins. So it just goes to show tha they have a quick turn around on product b/c they dont mark up like other stores do in the area. The fact is, is that there is a huge markup in fish and corals, not as much markup in corals as there are fish but still a huge markup, i have access to whole sale lists so i know the prices of what things shouls be and what they should'nt be.

Thats another thing to consider when shopping at fish stores. Sometimes its better to not buy from somewhere that only has their corals for a few days. I like to see corals after being in LFS's stores tanks for at least a week. OB doesn't have a *high* turnover rate for corals so you can almost always expect for the corals to be healthy. Another thing nice about buying from a place that sells so many tanks, sumps, filters, skimmers, etc., is that they don't rely so much on getting corals in and out of the store so fast.

This is just my opinion and not meant to upset anyone just one mans view.

Mike

They dont rely on getting corals out so fast b/c they have such a high markup in them that they can keep them there for a year and still make money on them.

Did anyone else hear that.....Or was it just me...
Sounded just like the cold, hard, click of a moderator's mouse...
Maybe not, maybe just my imagination.

You cant compare apples to oranges. The expensive corals there are rare or xx-large that you don't find anywhere else. Also look closely at the base...some are wild caught vs aquacultured. There is more in shipping with some corals. I've seen plenty of corals that I was going to get the next week that were gone the next day. If you don't like OB then thats fine and thats your opinion. I don't mine paying a few extra bucks not to get burned with a dying coral...not to mention a larger piece as well.

So lets stop these LFS threads because we will just end up bashing peoples fav stores. They all have good qualities otherwise they would be CLOSED!
