ORP and Ozone Problems

I almost never use socks, either. And no longer run GFO. Just the skimmer and GAC, which I think I need to change more because when I do, i see an immediate clarity of the water. How often do you change yours?

I use about 16 ozs of rox 8 for the 650 gallons and change it monthy. I have not used gfo since last November. Vodka and vinegar dosing for over 5.5 years; NO3 around 0.2ppm per Salifert, PO4 0.02 to 0.04ppm per hanah 713 colorimeter.

Ok, that's what i currently doโ€ฆ change the Rox once a month. But i've heard that it can be exhausted in just a matter of days. I did the test BRS posted a video on last week, filling a white bucket with tank water. Then I changed the carbon and 24hrs later I filled another white bucket. Put the two buckets next to each other and the first was definitely yellow and the second was blueish. That was after a month. I should probably do the same after a couple weeks, then maybe after a week. See if I notice any difference.

I stopped using GFO around christmas. I don't do any carbon dosing or anything. My display refugium is now taking off and dropping my Po4 and nitrate levels to suggested levels.

I mentioned the organic carbon dosing because the bacteria and the organic C and inorganic as N and P they consume exported via skimming probably have a significant effect on water clarity too which likely makes my tank experience different than yours . With a lot of algal exudate from a fuge or ats , I'd expect more coloring organics . I don't think a qaulity gac will exhaust in days but more frequent changes might be useful.
