sorry

didn't mean to vote.

was about to vote, realized the thread was about Orange Spotted File Fish and clicked "submit" instead of not clicking it

sorry its late, i apologize :fun5::sad2:

I can't say our pair has a fave food, but they do like shaved salmon a lot as a "treat". We really try to mix their fare: Shaved salmon, NLS pellets, Hikari BS, Hikari mysis, PE mysis (they "peck" them apart), fish roe, etc.

Hard to say what his favorite is for me as well. If I feed pellets, rods and roggers all at once, he goes after it all the same. The first time I fed roggers he did go more nuts than I've seen before though. I'm going to say Roggers for this reason. Also, he is more willing to take on large chunks and really work at it with Roggers.

uhuru,

I'm intrigued about this Rogger's stuff...where did you get it and what's in it?

Greg, I got it from DFS along with some other stuff. Here is the website:

http://www.roggersreeffood.com/

My OSFF will change colors and start diving after eating this stuff. He doesn't do it everytime but he's done it a couple of times already.

Eventually I'm going to leave the food in a pouch attached to the glass and he will be able to pick at the food all day. The food is designed to be used that way. Its not the same as the gel based foods though. Much, much better. You can smell the freshness even when its frozen.

I used the same food. Roggers. I use the brown one, but have used the spirulina enriched one. Both are AWESOME!!!!

I'm using the green. I'm curious how Roggers is winning by a landslide in this poll. Are these people all feeding this to their OSFF or are they voting for what they feed their fish in general?

i voted in general to all my fish- but in the past I've used it for the original threads opening scenario with success.

To this date I still have not found a fish that will not eat this formula.

I voted for Roger's food because I missed the "OSFF" and just speed read "Favorite food"
I have never tried one of those file fishes, they look awesome but my tank is all sps and I don't think there is a food out there that would prevent this file fishes from eating the acros.

We've used PE/ HK mysis mixed with selcon, cyclopeeze/krill (or Rogger's food, since it has all of these ingredients already)and injected it between the branches of dead Acropora skeletons; this gets them to eat everytime!

I guess I missed the OSFF as well and voted for "in general" BUT - Rogger's has been a winner hands down with any of the fish I have kept so chances are it would be great for an OSFF as well.

uhuru,

That's interesting regarding the "leaving it in a pouch" thing...I'd think it would foul the water tho. How do they preserve it, or do they?

Regardless, I think we need to give it a shot since the results seem to be so good. Our OSFF LOVE to eat, and it's really cool to see them beg (I remember when the smallest peck at food was a triumph).

Never had an OSFF but have to agree Roggers is devoured by all.

The way of feeding it is also unique.. You put on a clip and let them pick all day. Some fish wont pick but hover around for the floating stuff.

Someone mentioned fouling. On the contrary; Fouling is minimal, if at all , since food stays in mesh clip until its picked at.

nice to hear they are eating period mines fattened up now a month having him on NLS pellets .5mm ones onlyi soak them in vitamins liquid
