osmolator bucket

I am in the market for a Tunze Osmolator and was wondering whether it would be worthwhile to get the storage bucket. Is there anything special about it (i.e., special cut-outs or mounting hardware), or should I just use an old salt bucket or rubbermaid container?

I've heard many people say the osmolator is the best investment they've made for their tank, but I didn't know if anyone actually bothered with the buckets.

I just use a 20 gallon rubbermaid and I only have to worry about top off every 2 weeks. The buckets look like a waste of money.

I think ckox still has his for sell. I backed out due to needing to get a sump worse. I can top off water by hand but can't run the big tank sumpless!

I wouldn't get the bucket. You can use a rubbermaid tub or you can get a bucket locally. I got a big bucket from the local homebrew store.

The bucket is just a 7 gallon bucket...I know I bought it

I ended up using a 10 gallon tank for my container and I'm using a 15 now.

On the website, it looks just like a bucket... I thought maybe it had hidden super powers. I must have heard my Mom say, "don't judge a book by it's cover" one too many times.

As mentioned it is a 7 gallon bucket... it does have two small holes for the wiring so the lid fits perfectly on it.

If you come to the swap I'm no longer using mine and its in perfect condition.

I'm now using a 15 gallon tall for my top off water, so if your interested I'll let it go for 5$.

Its nice but it wasn't worth the 25$ it cost me and if it didn't cost so much to begin with I would just give it away.

Well, if you bought it at a LFS I'm sure you would have paid $35... And at least you're saving DMBillies from making the same mistake...

Don't feel bad about buying the bucket....I bought the calcium dispenser too At $90 that is WAY overpriced. Tunze makes some really good stuff but some of the items are like the bucket and the calcium dispenser.....slightly glorified
