Osmolator check valve

I installed an osmolator and calcium dispenser this weekend. I hooked everything up per the instructions except for two differences.... I have the output going to the sump and am using the check valve on the output tube of the dispenser. The problem I am having is when the pump turns on the check valve is opening and closing and causing the output of water into the sump to pulse in rhythmic spurts. The water flow out isn't a stream but bursts of water as the check valve opens and closes. Is it supposed to do that? Do I have a bad valve or is the pump not strong enough to open the valve and flow a stream of water? Is there anything I can do to fix this as the water pulsing and the clicking of the check valve sounds a bit irritating.

The check valve should go on the input end of the calcium dispenser where it is looped above the output using the zip tie. Is the sump above the reservoir?

Hi Roger:

I tried the check valve on both the input side of the dispenser and the output side. On the input side the valve stayed closed and would not open at all to let the water flow into the dispenser from the pump. I read another post on this forum by another user who said he had this problem and you told him to try it on the output side. I put the check valve on the output side and the dispenser filled with water and would flow into the tank but with the pulsing flow as the valve clicked open and closed. At first I ran the output up to the tank, but the pulsing of the output caused too much splashing. I later moved the output down to the sump where the splashing is not such a big deal.

The problem seems to be that the valve keeps closing itself with spring pressure or that the pump is not strong enough to continuously keep the valve open but can only open the valve in bursts...
