Osmolator connecting to an MRC nilsen reactor

I just purchased an osmolator and i want to hook it up to my nilsen reactor so that when i replace my water that has evaporated i replace it with kalk water.

The problem I am having is that when the pump stops there is a siphon and the water from my nilsen reactor siphons back into my storage container.

The question i have is there a check valve that i can put between the metering pump and the nilsen reactor to prevent the back flow into the storage container?

Roger,

I think i have found the part i need. It appears to be tunze part 5074.01, the description is "non return valve". Where can i order this part from?

Thanks.

you need to get a check valve.go to petland or petco and get one ..it cost around $3.. what it does is stop the water from flow backwards..

I had the same problem .....
when putting on the valve make sure that the small part is to the top.......on the rubber in the plastic...

The ideal is to run the line up to the top of the reactor and then back down to the inlet, use a zip tie. If you use a check valve check it regualrly, none of them hold up very long to kalkwasser, we use a duckbill type check valve just like the Tetra tec unit but we also drape the line up to the top and zip tie it above the reactor to help minimize the risk.

that sounds like what i have jury rigged now. i have the outlet from the metering pump going to a T and one side of the T goes to the reactor and another goes to a line that has a valve on it and it is hung higher than the reactor.

so when the water turns on part of the water goes to the reactor and part goes out the other line and drops back into the storage container. when the water stops there does not appear to be any siphon created to draw kalk water back into the storage container.
