Osmolator noise

I just picked up a used Osmolator, and the pump is very loud- louder than the entire tank. Should the pump be that loud? I was told it was cleaned so I did not clean it. Would that help?

While sound is subjective to different people and different enviroments, the pumps are not silent and do have a bit of a whrrr to them but i would not consider them terribly noisey. Usually can be quieted a bit by having the pump hang freely off the bottom.

The sound seemed to quiet down after a few hours use.

In the last week, twice I have come home to my sump an inch low, the controller is blinking red showing low level, but the pump is not on. If I take the sensor and move it around, dunk it in the water, it will start up again. Any ideas?
