Osmolator not operating correctly

I hope someone can help me. I just installed a new Osmolator that I purchased from MD 2 weeks ago. The Osmolator pump sits in my top off and pushes water through my kalk reactor to my sump. Everything was fine for about an hour, and then I heard the alarm go off. The water level was about an 1/8" beyond the tip of the optical sensor. I figured that maybe that was the working level of the sensor and that I may have had the float set to low, so I raised the float about an 1". An hour later, the alarm was going off again. Now the optical sensor is completely submerged. I know something is definately wrong, just not sure what. I have since unplugged it, as I fear it might flood my house in the middle of the night. I would greatly appreciate any help or ideas before I send it back to MD.

It sounds like you have a siphon. The water must pump up to the tank and not the sump, since the sump is likely lower than your reservoir even after the pump cuts off water continues to siphon.

Hi Roger, thanks for getting back to me. I have read that in several other threads and figured I'd try running it to the main tank when I get home tonight. What's not makong since to me is that my top off and sump are at the same level. It goes from the pump and rises 20 some inches to kalk reactor and the straight across to the sump. The outlet is about 24" above the level of the pump. Also, from what I stated about the second time it did it when I finally unplugged it, If I remember correctly, the pump was running and not just siphoning.

Hmm, it may also be that the sensor is just new, new plastic repels water and you can fix this by rinsing it with hot soapy water. Usually this goes away on it's own in a few days, otherwise micro bubbles can trick the sensor into thinking it is out of water.
