Osmolator Pump Question

Ok - got my Osmo installed. Question - will the pump shut off automatically if there's no water in the refill reservoir?

Due to space limitations in my sump, I only have room for a 2 gallon refill container. Let's say that, to hit the sensor level, it needs MORE than 2 gallons - will the pump stop when there's no more water left to pump out of the container, or will the controller keep the pump going because it thinks it needs to keep pumping to level (or 10 minutes).

Any info would be great as I doubt I'll ever have enough space for a large top off container.

Thx

Mine makes the "whirrrring" sound and then the pump stops as it detects no water. The monitor will flash the red light if I am not mistaken. This is one of main features for why I wanted the oz - the last thing I wanted was to be away on vacation and the pump running dry causing a fire.

It shuts off after 10 minutes of continuous running without registering a fill. The pump can run dry for sometime without issue.
