Osmolator pump whining

My osmolator pump has started to emit a very loud whining sound occasionally when it kicks in.

Any ideas as to what could be causing it or how to fix it?

The unit is a few years old and has performed flawlessly. It still does except for this rather unnerving sound which has been occuring more frequently lately.

The pumps usually only last 2-3 years, it is probably close to time for a new pump.
